Philippines Welcomes Indians: Visa-Free Entry and Direct Delhi-Manila Flights Now a Reality!

In a significant development aimed at strengthening tourism and bilateral relations, the Philippines has announced visa-free entry for Indian nationals and the resumption of direct flights between Delhi and Manila. These initiatives are expected to enhance connectivity and promote cultural exchange between the two nations.

Visa-Free Entry for Indian Nationals

Effective June 8, 2025, Indian passport holders can enter the Philippines without a visa for tourism purposes. This policy allows for a 14-day stay and is designed to encourage Indian travelers to explore the Philippines' rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Additionally, Indian nationals possessing valid visas or permanent residency from countries such as the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Schengen Area countries, or Singapore are eligible for a 30-day visa-free stay in the Philippines.

Resumption of Direct Flights

Air India has commenced direct flights between Delhi and Manila, marking the first such connection in over a decade. The inaugural flight took place on October 1, 2025, significantly reducing travel time and eliminating the need for layovers. This development is expected to boost tourism and facilitate business exchanges between the two countries.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

The visa-free entry policy and direct flight services are part of broader efforts to enhance bilateral relations between India and the Philippines. These measures align with the strategic partnership established in August 2025, commemorating 75 years of diplomatic ties.

Philippine Ambassador to India, Josel F. Ignacio, expressed optimism about the initiatives, stating that the combination of visa-free travel and direct flights would make the Philippines a more attractive destination for Indian tourists.

What Indian Travelers Need to Know

Indian nationals planning to visit the Philippines under the new visa-free policy should ensure their passports are valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay. Additionally, travelers may be required to present proof of onward or return travel, accommodation bookings, and sufficient financial means to support their stay.

With these developments, the Philippines is poised to become a more accessible and appealing destination for Indian travelers, offering a seamless travel experience and fostering closer ties between the two nations.
